In honor of this month’s Soul Matter’s Theme, “The Gifts of Justice and Equity” we continue a theme that was the focus of last week’s Religious Exploration class for Potpourri Sunday, namely the anniversary of the birthday and celebration of the historical legacy of Rosa Parks.
The history of Rosa Park’s contributions, especially in terms of her long-term commitment to organizing Black Women, helped make the Montgomery Bus Boycott a success. Long before she refused to give up her seat, Rosa Parks advocated for the well-being, equity, and justice for her community and for those who had suffered violence at the hands of those who maintained systems of oppressive segregation and cruelty.
