Do you sometimes feel anxiety and despair listening to the news? Stories from the groups supported by the Movement Voter Project (MVP) can help us find the courage and strength to take meaningful action. On May 19, 7-8 pm there will be a Watch Party co-sponsored by MVP and the Unitarian Universalist Society of Northampton and Florence (USNF). It will be both in-person at USNF, and on Zoom. The 20-minute video features MVP-sponsored grassroots leaders describing their actions and accomplishments. These organizers won fights for redistricting and water rights in Michigan, built the coalition that elected Rev. Raphael Warnock in Georgia, and defeated the Kansas amendment that would have made abortion illegal. Instead of following parties or politicians, all these organizers keep their eyes on the prize, building grass-roots power by mobilizing around issues that matter in their communities.
After the 20-minute video, attendees will be invited to share what we heard that gives us hope and inspiration, and ideas for follow-up action.
To attend this event on Zoom, please send an email to Dave Roitman: droitman6 at gmail dot com to receive the link to the meeting.
For in-person, come to USNF at 220 Main St., Northampton.
