Bearsden Conservation Area is an oasis of wild land near Athol, MA, encompassing nearly 2,000 acres of forest and wetland. It provides habitat for birds, small animals, wild flowers, and multiple tree species. Surrounded by the forest, Newton Reservoir is circled by a 2 ½ mile hiking trail with good footing and gentle slopes. And the scenery around the reservoir is outstanding.
Participants will meet at church at 10:30 on Saturday morning, May 7, and drive to Athol, arriving about 11:30. A short walk will take us to the shore of the reservoir, where we will pause for lunch. We will return to church in mid-afternoon.
Participants are asked to bring their lunch, water bottle, and rain gear in case of a shower. For more information or to join this outing, contact David Miller, 508-853-8964 or sentierdeau at gmail dot com
